Full Entrance Replacement, Safety Upgrades & Automatic Operator Installation
Our team was selected to complete a full entrance renovation for the Children’s Museum in Long Island — a space where safety, accessibility, and smooth visitor flow are essential. The project involved the complete removal of the museum’s existing doors and the installation of seven new doors throughout the entrance area:
- Three single doors at the main front entry
- Two sets of double doors inside the vestibule (total of four doors)
Every door was replaced with a durable, modern system designed to meet the strict safety and accessibility standards required for public museum spaces — especially those serving children and families.
To ensure maximum safety in emergency situations, each door was equipped with a panic push bar. These bars allow for immediate, effortless exit during emergencies, supporting the museum’s responsibility to provide a secure environment for children, staff, and visitors.
In addition, all seven doors were upgraded with automatic door operators. This allows hands-free entry and exit for:
- Individuals with disabilities
- Parents and caregivers with strollers
- School groups arriving together
- Visitors carrying bags, equipment, or supplies
The automatic operators significantly improve accessibility and support compliance with New York’s accessibility regulations.
